I am glad our blogs are being indexed! I try to put careful thought into my posts, hoping that someone will read them, or even **comment** on my blog, so if an indexing program is what will lead and lure readers to my site, then index away. However, similar to what everyone has noted, to whom much is given much is required. My class is very fortunate to have the opportunites that Robert and each of the contributors have provided, but with these opportunities comes responsibility to write meaningful posts. I look forward to rising to the challenge, raising the bar, and making my site worth indexing.

I also think it is scary that our blogs are being indexed, but also very beneficial. Our ideas and opinions are being posted for the world to see. That is something that students 10 years ago did not have. What worries me though is blogs are basically for our opinions, but our opinions can sometimes change. I am worried that one of my simple opinions might come back and bite me . I guess that is why we have all the preview and edit buttons, just to make sure we want to post something before we do.

I think it is a bit scary that our blogs are being indexed, but at the same time, can't it be a good thing? When you put anything online, you do so at your own risk, so it really shouldn't matter who is reading it. If you stick to ethical standards, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Also, isn't the point of blogs for people to read them and share opinions? I hope that people will read my blog, and maybe get something out of it. I suppose the bottom line is to just be careful and not write anything that you don't want other people to see.

I think your title was appropriate, that is kindof scary to think that our blogs are now being indexed. Although I don't know why anyone randomly would look for my blog, it is a little bit weird to think that anyone can access it and read everything I post...but I guess that is the point of having a blog on the internet, isn't it!

I think Dianne is right. Maybe knowing that blogs are easily accessible will help people to be careful about what they post and follow the rules of blogging ethics.

I think it is really interesting what you can find by entering your own name in a search engine, like Google. If you are really bored one day, you should try it. It is kindof weird to see all the links it will pull up!

I actually had a guy from Australia email me because he entered his name in a search and found something about me (I guess Ashley is a normal male name there). I don't know what he found that had my email address on it, but he emailed me just to tell me it was cool that we had the same first and last name. Then he went on to tell me about himself. We actually emailed back and forth a few times.

So that was a little random story, but the point is, the internet is very interesting! Again, technology amazes me!

Yikes!! Technology is everywhere. We couldn't run from it or survive without it, if we tried. There is no doubt about that. But when the roles are reversed and technology is taking advantage of us, it is definitly a scary thing. I think our entire class would agree that EPIC sent a little chill of fear through all of our bodies.

But maybe there is advantage to having our postings traced on the internet. Maybe this will cause bloggers to be more cautious of what they say. Maybe this will force people to uphold ethical standards.

This did get my attention. It is weird and scary how the INternet is taking over our lives! We really do spend all our time and energy on the web when we are bored, when we are supposed to be doing other work, etc. The INternet provides so much to us and it is strange to think about the future of technology like this. This epic can open our eyes to how much time we really do spend on the INternet.
