I guess the next thing is for PC makers to have GMS built into the laptop. Can't be too far away, can it?
Nope - not far at all.
Eventually every device will record it's geo-position with every event. Imagine cameras that capture position as effortlessly as date and time. Now extend that notion to everything including pens, video cameras, phones, XM radios, your tire gauge (some ideas are bad), and firearms (some ideas are good).

Bill, I was talking with a Journalism faculty member and we were discussing how many newspapers (and some companies seeking to sell the service) are already doing this.
Locally, I'm told, our little paper is going around and developing a database of all street intersections to be used in conjunction with existing databases.
I can just see someone (Advance.net) signing up with a search company (A9) and tying stories into this process - with photos - and, of course, advertising and directions/search (storefront photos).
Do you know of any such examples?
In opensource blogging, a similar process (I'm sure in simpler fashion) to your application, has already been written that reads a predefined directory.
I can only imagine that someone has already created one that checks their GMS (attached to their laptop) and drops in the Geo-code into the pre-existing WordPress blanks for it.
I guess the next thing is for PC makers to have GMS built into the laptop. Can't be too far away, can it?
