Yes, Auburn did win; however, Alabama lost so our hopes for a shot at the SEC title are slowly going down the tubes. In order for Auburn to go the SEC championship, we have to beat Alabama and LSU has to lose to either Arkansas or Mississippi. The Tigers offense has been more productive this year than last, but our defense hasn’t shown its full potential yet.
For instance, last night we had three or four dropped interceptions and a ton of missed tackles. Thank goodness for Karibi Dede for saving the day with his fumble returned for a touchdown. Last night’s game could be considered one of the greatest and most exciting Auburn vs. Georgia match-ups. Although Auburn has one 10 of the last 12 games in Athens, this was not the easiest to pull off. There were 9 lead changes during the game.
I think winning last night’s game has given Auburn a boost of confidence for the Iron Bowl. Alabama’s going to be coming off of a heart breaking loss and their offense has looked pretty pathetic so far. Georgia vs. Auburn may be the oldest rivalry in the South but Alabama vs. Auburn is by far the best rivalry. WAR EAGLE!

Wow! What a game. My throat is still sore from cheering. I love games like the one last night because the action is so intense and the fans take every play seriously. (Of course, the Deep South’s oldest rivals were playing, so that might have had something to do with it!) I can’t count the times I was hugged and high-fived by strangers, but that’s what makes the game fun.
Everything from the 62 yard gain on the fourth down to Kenny Irons ruling the field with 37 carries for 179 yards and 2 touchdowns made the game exciting. Not to mention John Vaughn’s chip shot at the end of the game that sealed the Auburn victory and regained the confidence of Auburn fans. It was so touching to see the players run to the Auburn section and sing the fight song with the fans, while lifting Vaughn up on their shoulders.
It was disheartening to find out moments before kick off that Alabama had lost in over time to LSU; it isn’t every day that Auburn actually pulls for Alabama to win and remain undefeated. However, Alabama’s loss only fuels the Iron Bowl rivalry – the pride factor will raise the stakes. Since LSU beat both teams this season, the match up this weekend will determine which team is the better opponent.
My money is on Auburn! War Eagle!

It was an amazing game! I was in Athens and the energy was unbelievable. In many ways the Georgia vs. Auburn game is bigger than the Iron Bowl, a.k.a. Alabama vs. Auburn. It is the South’s Oldest Rivalry and that makes it even better.
Another thing I was very pleased about was the sportmanship displayed by both sides. In many cases, football brings out the worst in people. I was very proud of both sets of fans. It was an enjoyable weekend of friends, family and football.
At the end of the game, I think I was more worried about Vaughn than I was about winning. Poor thing, he couldn’t miss another field goal!! Tommy Tuberville continues to impress me with his humble, when interviewed after the game. The Auburn Tigers are a team that I am proud to be a supporting fan of.
Thanks for the congratulations on our big win! It’s nice to know that we aren’t the only ones who care, or at least watch.

This weekend was great! I love the rivalry between our schools. Athens was filled with Auburn fans and we definitely took over their town. It was sad to see Alabama lose because it basically took away our chances of another SEC title. But, beating UGA the way we did was unforgettable. It was incredible to see the way Auburn fans flocked together, hugging each other in the streets and cheering together even though you may not have known the person you were high-fiving. Auburn truly is a family and I loved being a part of that this weekend. Athens on the other hand was filled with rude GA fans. It made me proud to be from a classy school.
We played a great game all around. Things aren’t always going to go the way you want, but I think the offense and defense did the best they could through the injuries and players who were unable to play. We should all be thankful for Vaughn who stepped it up and won the game for us. I’m glad he was able to show his real ability for kicking this weekend and regain his confidence. Hopefully we will somehow make it to the SEC Championship again, but regardless we had a fantastic season. We will beat Alabama, and that’s all that matters!! War Eagle

Like everyone else, I was in Athens also. A friend of mine, who went to Georgia for undergrad, rode up with us. Gosh, he was talking so much crap about how they were just going to blow us away all the way to Athens, but the trip home was great!
I don’t know if ESPN showed the pre-game show, but if you were there, it was amazing. People parachuted into the stadium; one had an American flag attched, one had the Georgia flag and one had an Auburn flag. Gosh, it gave me chills. It was beautiful and it showed so much spirit, especially when the Auburn flag was flying around the stadium. The Auburn section acted as if it was like the eagle screaming “War Eagle” until it touched down.
Overall, the game was a great game. It was so suspenseful. I felt sorry for John Vaughn (the kicker) after the LSU game, but he redeemed himself winning it for us this time!
As for the Alabama game, it was bitter sweet. I loved to see Alabama lose and have their perfect season crushed, but there went our chances for SEC championship.

War Eagle!! I too was in Athens this weekend, the first time I have ever been. I had heard that the fans were more courteous than let’s say the LSU or Alabama fans, but I didn’t exactly have a good experience with the bulldogs. We tailgated on the top floor of the east side parking deck which was loaded with both Auburn and Georgia fans. The Georgia fans talked so much trash before the game and some of my friends and I got harassed pretty bad at the bathrooms so I was a little upset with the etiquette of the rival team. Needless to say it made our victory even sweeter.
I didn’t have tickets for the game so we stayed at the parking deck in the freezing cold and watched in on satellite TV, but we were all bundled up and it was worth it watching the game on the GA campus. I am upset about missing the pre-show because we heard it was so cool when the people parachuted in carrying the flags and unfortunately it was not aired on TV.
We also watched the Alabama game before the AU game and I couldn’t help but feel torn between who I wanted to cheer for. I despise Alabama, but if they had won we could have still had a chance to be in the SEC championship. As mean as it sounds, it was still nice to see them lose and ruin their perfect season. I can’t wait for the Iron Bowl game this weekend.
I have to say that I got worried when the AU/GA game came down to John Vaughn. He is from my hometown and it is always sad to see someone mess up and the LSU game was heartbreaking to watch as he kept missing field goals. I am glad that he got the chance to redeem himself and he kicked the winning field goal. I love my tigers!

Ha ha now isn’t that the truth. College football is life down here… and I love it! I have now officially been to every Auburn vs. Georgia game since I have been in college. There is truly something amazing about the atmosphere.
Two years ago, when we played in Georgia, my roommate’s parents gave us their tickets. Problem was, her parents were huge Georgia fans so, our tickets were located on the 50-yard line in the Georgia section. To say that it was awful would be an understatement. We were screamed at the entire time. Then you add to that the fact that our team lost horribly that year, it was truly a bad experience.
This year on the other hand, our tickets were located all the way up in the nosebleed section. Despite being incredibly high up, it was the best away game that I have been to. I was surrounded by hundred of Auburn fans. We screamed, cheered did everything we could to show our spirit.
As we left the stadium, many Georgia fans yelled at us saying “At least they have the SEC championship. Maybe that is what they don’t understand about Auburn. For us, it does not matter if we go to the SEC or not, go to the Orange bowl or the Sugar bowl, its truly about our love for our team. Each game is important to us, no matter what it will do to our BCS ranking. To many of us, Georgia is considered the biggest rival. So, for this being quite possibly my last away game, I left a happy girl.

Thank you, and WAR EAGLE! I had the greatest time in Athens. I can’t explain how wonderful the atmosphere was on Friday night when we got in town. This was my second away game ever since I have been in college. I regret now that I have taken this opportunity before but I am so glad that I got the chance to go this year.
We tailgated all day Saturday with my friends from Georgia and it was so much fun. They were bashing us and talking trash but they cooked us lots of hamburgers and hotdogs and provided lots of refreshments. I wouldn’t say they were extremely friendly after the game, but we all hung out afterwards regardless. To be quite honest, a lot of the UGA fans that we ran into after the game were very sore losers. They were extremely pushy and calling Auburn fans terrible names. I was honestly shocked by the lack of respect they had for the other team. Even at the bar later that night, the bartenders were ignoring people who were wearing their Auburn T-shirts or logos and only serving UGA fans for the longest time.
I did enjoy UGA’s campus a lot. I thought the hugh old oak trees were beautiful and the buildings were pretty as well. I also thought their downtown was amazing, it definitely lived up to what everyone said about downtown Athens. Although I am still recovering and trying to get my voice back before next weekend, it was a great experience go to the game and visit Athens.
The plans for next weekend are already in the making. We have to get ready for our next challenge. I can’t wait!

So, I am not a football fan. As usual, I am an oddball in the Auburn community. It seems here in the south if you are not rooting for a team people look at you like you’ve killed their mother. Actually I take that back, I love football the sport. Usually when I watch games I hope “football wins”, rather than a specific team.
I had to work all Saturday night rather than go to Athens to watch the game in person. But, of course, every TV in the restaurant where I work was blasting the Auburn game. As always, everyone was mad that I had little to no interest in Auburn’s plays. My co-workers just couldn’t comprehend that I wasn’t a die hard fan. “How can you not like this?!” was all I heard for at leas an hour.
By the end of the game I was hugging the guy next to me. Auburn stood still during the fourth quarter of the game. During each play you could here the screams and cheers of the restless fans throughout down town going crazy with anticipation of the final score. When the game was over every man around me was almost teary eyed. It was almost touching and, even for a non believer, impossible not to get into.
Auburn has a tradition of toilet papering the largest intersection down town called Toomer’s Corner. I sat outside the restaurant and watched grownups run down the street as fast as they could with a toilet paper trail flowing behind them. To me it seemed that Auburn was dead until the fourth quarter of that game. People came from everywhere to gather on the street. It was electric. Everyone doing Auburn cheers, laughing, yelling and loud music being blasted was all you could hear.
One of my guy friends stood beside me as we watched down town erupt. He said, “See Ashley, this is what football is all about.” It made a fan out of me.

Yeah, War Eagle Guys! It made me so proud when I walked into my office in D.C. and people were talking about the excellent SEC games this past weekend. A senior VP actually came to my little office to talk about how amazing it must have been to go to a school with such a strong football program and equally strong rivalries. I loved every second of it! Go Tigers!!!

Thanks for the compliment! I was lucky to be at the game and it definitely ranks on my top five list of the best football games I’ve ever been to. This game was comparable to the Auburn-LSU game last season where we won in the last seconds 10-9. I went to Athens believing we were going to loose. All I wanted was a good game; I got that and so much more!
Contrary to what some people have said, I thought Georgia fans were very friendly. I saw one fairly inebriated Georgia fan kick over a trashcan after the game but aside from that, they were very friendly. I tailgated with a giant group of Georgia fans, my boyfriend and I were the lone Tiger fans and we endured only friendly teasing. We also sat in the Georgia section during the game and even our wild cheering didn’t attract negative attention. All in all, I was impressed with the Georgia fans.
The pre-game show was a beautiful sight to see. The people parachuting into the stadium wearing Auburn, Georgia and American flags gave the game a sense of rivalry and unity at the same time. I believe it set the tone for the rest of the game. The people in our section at least were very supportive of each other’s team congratulating one another when the opposite team made a great play.
It gives me so much pride in my school when I hear about people all over the country commenting on our team’s spirit and talent. We have a wonderful team, a wonderful coach and most importantly, wonderful fans!

Well I know everyone is talking about the game and how great it is. So I thought I would add a few things people may not have talked about. I thought this game was the best game I have ever seen since the Florida game when Florida came in #1 and we beat them. However, overall the experience was one to remember. The hotel room I stayed in was absolutely the worst room I have ever stayed in. I was in there with four guys and one girl. One double bed, and 2 brothers way bigger than me. Was very uncomfortable and the shower didn’t even have hot water.
Enough of that. UGA has the best campus I have ever seen. Nothing compares to it in the SEC. I love our campus, but everything is so clean and beautiful. That is a place I would definitely like for everyone to check out once in their life eventually.
The bar scene was incredible. Every night was crazy. The best part about it was that there was no cover at all for any of the bars. In Auburn, you have to pay more to get in than what it cost to drink. Not at UGA. The game was absolutely incredible. Something I will never ever ever forget. The best parts of the game was the beginning and end. The beginning with the parachutes coming in to give the game ball, and the end where John Vaughn was lifted up on player’s shoulders to celebrate a huge victory. The weekend as you can tell was something to behold. WAR EAGLE!
