Doing Auburn Proud

Hats off to Auburn student Erin Caldwell who worked with the Society for New Communications Research in putting on the New Communications Forum conference in Palo Alto these past few days. On the Marcomblog side of things it was a meeting of some of the contributors: David Parmet, Neville Hobson and myself. Also in attendance was AU supporter Jeremy Pepper. Students can follow all the conference coverage here.

I am extremely proud of Erin. Erin is a perfect example of how hard work and learning social media can help your career out. Erin worked so hard to get everything she was responsible for correct. She lost many hours of sleep trying to get things perfect and in order. I didn’t speak with her while she was at the conference, but she was so excited about going. If I know Erin she soaked up every little thing possible to improve her career. That is just the type of PR professional Erin is and will be. It was a great experience for her and probably just the beginning of a fantastic career.

Erin’s ability to shine and show off the Auburn program will help all of us out. The big names in PR recognize Auburn as having a good PR program. You all recongize us because ya’ll help us through this website. Now the other big names that aren’t associated with marcomblog have now heard about the Auburn program because of Erin’s work at the conference. I think Erin has helped us more than we will ever know. Thanks Erin!!!!!

Erin Caldwell is definitely a force to be reckoned with in the Auburn community. She is hard-working and dedicated to the public relations cause. I am extremely proud she is from Auburn University, because she does make our school look great and represents us well. I do not think Erin sleeps, but rather spends hours perfecting an already stellar reputation, career and resume. I am excited she was the one representing Auburn at the New Communications Forum. I could not think of anyone better suited for that job. I imagine she had pen and paper out taking notes of everything that happened. I know Erin will go far, and she definitely has a bright future ahead of her!

Erin is proof that extra effort in our Style and Design class will truly “pay off” in experience and knowledge. We’re gaining so much from the contacts we are making and the advice we are receiving from ya’ll! You have opened up and allowed students, who would probably never have the chance otherwise, to learn from you. Now, Erin has become a part of your blogging community. It is a direct result of hard work on her part and willingness to participate in projects like Marcom on your part. The subject matters discussed on this blog are automatically transferable to life after 8am classes and final exams. It is encouraging to know that blogging is not play. It gets conversation going about worthwhile topics. I am sure that’s the best part of the New Communications Forum- conversations. Though we aren’t all there, I am sure we’ll hear all about it!

I wish that I had as much passion for PR as Erin. I barely know the girl, but every time I see her or hear about her, she is pursuing outlets in PR that could result in job opportunities and undoubtedly create networks, which is the number one key to success in life. I have no doubt that Erin will succeed in the PR profession because of her unprecedented work ethic and hard work. Maybe she will go down as one of the top PR practitioners of all time. It wouldn’t surprise me…after all she does come from the most incredible school in the nation.

Sounds like a great conference! I hope all you Marcom contributors all went out for lunch or something!
I don’t know how Erin does it. To be doing things such as setting up conferences, interning and taking campaigns class all at once, I sure wish I had the stamina.
I do my fair share of campus activities, and enjoy them, but along with 18 hours and a job waiting tables, May is looking mighty fine. Graduation itself is my graduation present I like to say. I feel I have taken on way too much in school and it gets hard to balance everything. At least with an actual job, I will hopefully find the time to ease my mind with reading mysteries or taking walks.
Erin is really a spectacular student, we’ve had numerous classes together, and I wish I had her strive to do so well in every single thing she takes on. I know she will go far when she graduates.
And she probably will even become a professional Marcom contributor!

Eh, she was just okay. ;)

Erin did the War Eagles proud, and did a great job in the City and the Valley.

Geez — you guys know how to make a girl blush. (And laugh!) ;-) But let’s give some credit where credit is definitely due.

I think we all know how great Robert is. Do I really need to reiterate? Probably not. But I will anyway! Robert only wants the best for all his students. So when you guys are getting frustrated with the workload, just remember that he’s not giving you all this for the heck of it — this can truly work to your advantage if you let it. Just think of it like this: he’s not giving you work to do … he’s giving you opportunities. :-)

More people to give credit to: Jen McClure and Elizabeth Albrycht. Jen is my boss. :-) And she and Elizabeth did a HECK of a job putting together a stellar roster of speakers and an all-around oustanding conference. I’m just lucky I got to play a small role and be there to experience it.

Oh that Erin, she is famous in the PR Style & Design class! She helped me get my online resume finished before applying for internships AND she designed her own digital portfolio (no templates!). Robert is very proud of her, and should be. She is doing wonderful things with her knowledge from his class. I am pretty sure she made this stuff seem “cool” to me.
It is exciting, however, on the first day of class when Robert tells us all of the things we will be able to do once we have completed his course. It really is the best PR course at Auburn. I have learned more things that I can actually apply than in any other course. I am also extremely hands-on oriented so his class is different from most.
I love that I can tell employers that I know all of the software that I do, and that I can do it well! I know I will take all I have learned with me in my future career prospects but I can only hope to do what Erin has with her knowledge. Good job Erin!

Just another example of the quality of the public relations program at Auburn University. Not only did Erin take the things learned in Style and Design and apply them in the workforce, but she is using skills gained in other classes and actually implementing them in the real world. The press releases, blogs, web design, etc. that she is doing with Camp ASCCA is really impressive, and we should be proud, not only of her, but also of what her work says for our university.

I think we often underestimate the importance of what we are doing in this program. Despite all the hardwork, lab hours, papers, stress over tests and everything else, we are getting a quality education from professionals physically here at the campus but also from the contributors of this blog who continually provide us with an education about PR. Our class is lucky that we have these opportunities both in and out of Auburn, and Erin is proof that this education is definately worth all the hard work and stress.

Erin certainly seems popular out Auburn way.

At times like this I think it’s appropriate to (mis)quote that American journal of record - South Park.

Stan: what would Erin Caldwell do if if she was here right now she’d make a plan and he’d follow through that’s what Erin Caldwell’d do

Kyle:when Erin Caldwell was in the olympics skating for the gold she did two salchows and a triple lutz while wearing a blindfold

Cartman:when Erin Caldwell was in the alps fighting grizzly bears she used her magical fire breath and saved the maidens fair
