Done the Impossible: RSS explained (cross posted from Marketing Roadmaps)

Hello Marcom Blog readers. I usually don’t cross post from my own blog, and most of you have probably already seen this, but just in case….

(Cross post begins)

Someone finally had to do it. Find a way to explain RSS that maybe, just maybe, everyone can understand.

From Common Craft, via Doug Haslam and Neville Hobson:

There are two types of Internet users, those that use RSS and those that don’t. This video is for the people who could save time using RSS, but don’t know where to start.

I definitely agree with the video. Using RSS feeds can be extremely convenient. In today’s fast pace society, it’s more convenient for for news feeds to come to you, instead of you hunting for the news feeds. Being automatically udated begins a trendy cycle of staying informed, especially during your busiest times.

Receiving RSS feeds are also fast and efficient because there is no searching involved. Sure, you have to look for an exact story or blog, but the daily update comes in a timely fashion without using any search methods.

I believe RSS feeds should be used over the old methods of internet searching because time is valuable. Why search, when news can come conveniently to you?

Wow-I think I actually sort of understand RSS now. I never quite grasped the concept, but the video helped a lot.

I always knew there had to be a quicker and easier way to get information, I was just afraid of RSS. Maybe it was that “afraid of the unknown” mentality.

I’ll definitely try out RSS now that I understand the concept a little bit better. I also liked the intro and exit music-haha!
