Guanxi 1.1 - Reply to Tyra

What are the aspects of relationships that can be measured? Positives and negatives? Good days versus the bad days? How can positives and negatives be measured?

How can a relationship be successful? What makes a relationship successful? Why people allow relationship to fail if relationship is key to the success of everything?

Guanxi 1.2 - Reply to Barrett

Nothing is important unless people make it important, then when people make something unimportant important, that unimportant something becomes very important. Whether something is important or not depends on the people’s will.

As Barret suggested, same applies to relationships. A follow-up question would be why people want to make something important? Because it will affect how successful they are? Because of personal preference? Or simply no particular reason?

Are people rational, or emotional? And in what way?

To err is human, but to be able to learn from mistakes is super-human.

Guanxi 1.3 - Reply to Jordan

“Relationships can be measured by committment, loyalty, trust, enjoyment, etc.”

Then how are commitment, loyalty, trust and enjoyment being measured? In The Speed of Trust, Covey attempts to quantify trust by linking it to speed and cost. He says “when trust goes down, speed will also go down and costs will go up.” Then how about commitment, loyalty and enjoyment?

“Relationships are imperative, yet hard to define.”

What kinds of different relationships are there? Love, friendship, family, colleagues… what else?

Is it possible to categorize relationships into two main types: nature versus nuture?
